Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana
(CM Girl Child Upliftment scheme):
Objective:
The objective of this scheme is to prevent child marriage, female feticide, improve sex ratio, encourage immunization and secure the future of the girls by encouraging them to pursue higher education and thus become self-reliant.
Launched:
CM Nitish Kumar launched the scheme on 3rd August 2018.
Eligibility:
- The girl should be a resident of Bihar.
- Only two girls from one family are eligible to apply for this scheme.
- The girl should belong to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) of society.
- Every girl in the state is eligible irrespective of caste or religion.
- The girl’s parents/guardian must not be working as a Government Employee.
Implementing authority:
The Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana (MKUY) has been implemented to provide financial assistance to girl child from their birth to the age of 21 years. Through this conditional cash transfer scheme, the government of Bihar brought together different programs under the Social Welfare Department, the Health Department, and the Education Department into one umbrella scheme.
